Janna M. Journeycake, MD, MSCS

Dr. Journeycake is a native Oklahoman.  She received her medical degree from Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in 1996 and completed pediatric residency at OU-Tulsa in 1999.  She then moved to Dallas, Texas to complete her pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship and Master of Science in clinical science at UT Southwestern Medical Center after which she joined faculty from 2002-2018.  She is nationally recognized for her research in pediatric thrombosis and hemostasis, particularly catheter-related thrombosis and ECMO anticoagulation.  Her clinical focus is in benign hematology including bleeding disorders, thrombosis in children, sickle cell disease and general cytopenias.  Dr. Journeycake has served as a faculty member at OU since 2018 and was appointed interim Section Chief for the Hematology/Oncology Section on June 1, 2020.
