Paul M. Darden, MD, is CMRI James Paul Linn Endowed Chair and Chief, Section of General and Community Pediatrics, in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. While in Oklahoma he has founded the Oklahoma Child Health Research Network (OCHRN) a regional practice based research network. He is the director of the Academic Generalists Training Program. He has had a long standing interest in practice-based research and has established two regional practice-based research network; OCHRN and the South Carolina Pediatric Practice Research Network (SCPPRN). He was President of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) from 2003-2004.He has been a practitioner, coordinator, steering committee member and investigator in AAP’s Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS). Most of his research has related to the delivery of preventive care to children. This has involved numerous studies of the delivery of vaccines in practice settings. He has also studied continuity of care, dental caries, developmental screening and obesity among many issues related to primary care. Currently he is working on a project examining how adolescents and their parents make decisions to get vaccines and how best to help them with that process.
