Dr. Heinlen completed his Bachelor of Business Administration and pursued a career in business consulting prior to returning to the University of Oklahoma for medical education.  He completed Urology residency at the University of Oklahoma and continued to complete fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles County.  He is currently an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.  He has focused his early career on quality of care in urology and urologic oncology, with particular focus in healthcare disparities based on geography and socioeconomic status.  He serves on all quality related hospital committees at the OU Medical Center and has an active role in improving hospital safety.  During his training, he received several honors for leadership and excellence, including the prestigious Lloyd and Ruth Rader Scholarship awarded to one resident each year.
