Allan C Gelber, MD

Dr. Allan Gelber is Professor of Medicine and Deputy Director for Education and Faculty Development in the Division of Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and is Associate Faculty at the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research.

 

Dr. Gelber is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and received both his MPH and PhD degrees (the latter in Clinical Investigation) at the Bloomberg School. He pursued internship and residency training in internal medicine at Duke University and then undertook his fellowship training in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins.

 

Dr. Gelber is an active and accomplished clinician, mentor and teacher. He previously served as Fellowship Program Director at Johns Hopkins from 2001-2011. He currently attends on the Zieve Medical Unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview and the Osler Medical Service at Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as on the Rheumatology Consultation Service at JHH.

 

He has proven to be a valued mentor of housestaff, rheumatology fellows and junior faculty. He directs the Musculoskeletal Section of the Genes-to-Society course to the second year medical school class and the Clinical Clerkship in Rheumatology. He is Thayer Firm Faculty Leader on the Osler Medical Service at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and serves as Chair of the M.D. Admissions Committee at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
