Dr. Steven A. Crawford leads a Department that trains over 40 family medicine residents and primary care sports medicine fellows annually. It also houses the OU/OKC Physician Associate Program that educates 50 masters-level students over a 27-month curriculum. He is also the Legislative Committee Co-Chair and a past-President of the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians. He has also served as the chair of the Commission on Governmental Advocacy of the American Academy of Family Physicians and as a delegate for the Oklahoma State Medical Association to the American Medical Association. He has coordinated OU College of Medicine's Annual Primary Care Update continuing medical education program for the last 20 years. Dr. Crawford has previous private practice experience in several areas in the state including Shawnee, Yukon, Midwest City and Oklahoma City. Since 1995, he has served as chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of the state's Medicaid agency and in 2016, he was appointed as the physician member of the Oklahoma Hospital Association's Board of Directors.  Since 2015, he has been the Co-Director of the Oklahoma Primary Healthcare Cooperative, an integral part of the Oklahoma Clinical and Translational Science Institute. In this role, he has been the PI or co-PI of over $15 million in grants and contracts helping to transform Oklahoma‚Äôs primary care infrastructure. In 2010, he was honored by the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians as Oklahoma's Family Physician of the Year. As a result of these roles and experiences, he is both well-known and well-respected by health care providers throughout the state.
