Steven A. Crawford, M.D., Professor and Chair since 1999 of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine’s Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, oversees an academic clinical department that includes two family medicine residency programs and clinics training nearly 50 residents a year, a primary care sports medicine fellowship program, a Physician Associate masters level program training 50 students a year, department faculty coordination of three required and four elective medical school courses, and an active state-wide nationally recognized primary care research program. He is currently Chief of the Family Medicine Service at the OU Medical Center, co-chair of the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians Legislative Committee, chair of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority’s Medical Advisory Committee, a member of the Oklahoma State Health Department’s Immunization Advisory Committee and the appointed physician member to the Oklahoma Hospital Association’s Board of Directors. In the past, he has been a member of OU Medical Center Board of Trustees serving as its chair from 2001-2003, a member of the American Academy of Family Physician’s Commission on Governmental Advocacy serving as its chair from 2006-2007, and was president of the Oklahoma County Medical Society in 2002 and of the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians in 1994.
