Lester D. Miller, M.D., F.A.C.R.


Short Bio


Lester D. Miller, M.D. is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine on the Voluntary Faculty in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of California School of Medicine (UCSF) in San Francisco. He has been involved in mentoring rheumatology fellows in the Division for the past 10 years.  He previously held a similar position at Stanford University School of Medicine.


Dr. Miller received his medical degree from the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y.) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his internship and residency in Medicine at Boston University Medical Center and Boston City Hospital. Following service in the National Health Service Corps, he completed his fellowship in Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.


Dr. Miller was in the private practice of rheumatology for over 35 years in Santa Cruz, California.  In 2014 he was the Medical Honoree of the Arthritis Foundation Central California Branch and in 2016 the state society of rheumatologists, California Rheumatology Alliance, presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He has published peer review articles and several textbook chapters, the most recent one will be released in 2020 on Rheumatoid Arthritis in Current Diagnosis and Treatment: Rheumatology from McGraw Hill, edited by John Stone, M.D.
