Overview
The first Annual Oklahoma Stroke Symposium is a single-day conference geared toward healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with strokes. This includes neurosurgeons, neurologists, emergency medicine, critical care, mid-level providers, and stroke coordinators. The activity will take place on the OUHSC campus and will entail both breakfast and lunch. This activity is designed to foster improvements in physician knowledge, competence and performance in caring for patients with stroke. Topics delivered by experts in the fields of neurosurgery, neurology, and vascular medicine include: tenecteplase vs TPA, secondary stroke prevention, advanced surgical options in cerebrovascular disease, ischemic stroke and dementia in atrial fibrillation patients, intracerebral hemorrhage management in the neurosciences ICU, communication neurological exam findings in the setting of acute stroke, TCAR, advances in stroke thrombectomy. 

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. 1. Implement the latest evidence-based diagnostic and treatment methods to improve outcomes for stroke patients.
  2. 2. Apply the latest safety and efficacy of tenecteplase versus alteplase in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
  3. 3. Utilize the most up to date evidence-based advanced surgical options in treating patients with cerebrovascular disease.
  4. 4. Make use of the diagnosis and treatment options available for patients with carotid artery disease.
  5. 5. Implement the most up to date evidence-based diagnosis and management of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).
