Join us as experts speak on current issues and trends in Palliative Medicine and End-of-Life Care for adults and pediatrics.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. Improve healthcare providers' knowledge of communication skills to assist with initiating discussions of palliative care and end-of-life care topics.
  2. Initiate and lead palliative and end-of-life care discussions with patients and families using evidence-based communication strategies that promote understanding, empathy, and shared decision-making.
  3. Assess and address patients’ emotional and spiritual needs through interdisciplinary collaboration and application of patient-centered palliative care principles.
  4. Identify key components of effective communication strategies for palliative and end-of-life.
  5. Describe commonly used palliative medications for symptom management and their appropriate application in end-of-life care.
  6. Demonstrate techniques for initiating timely and compassionate palliative care conversations with patients and families.
  7. Apply communication models and interdisciplinary collaboration strategies in clinical scenarios involving palliative and end-of-life care.
  8. Evaluate patient and family emotional and spiritual needs and integrate appropriate support into care planning.
  9. Collaborate effectively with nursing, medical, and allied health professionals to ensure consistent and compassionate palliative care delivery.

Registration

This activity is designed to improve competence in communications surrounding palliative and end-of-life topics including common palliative symptom management medications, and end-of-life care. The live in-person format provides opportunities for attendees to interact with each other to share experiences and to have the opportunity to learn from subject experts.

By the end of this professional activity, learners will be able to initiate and lead palliative and end-of-life care conversations using evidence-based communication strategies, address emotional and spiritual needs through interdisciplinary collaboration, apply patient-centered care principles, utilize appropriate symptom management, and work effectively with healthcare teams to deliver compassionate, coordinated care.
