2026-2027 Congenital Heart Center Case Based Conference/Patient Conference, Course #27D19 - 5/28/2027

Weekly conference where duration is generally 1.5 - 2 hours, and active participation by all attendees is encouraged via case studies, the audience responding to questions, small group discussion, and question and answer opportunities. The ultimate goals of the conference are: 1) to assure that the needs of the patient are understood, 2) the needs of the patient are being met, 3) a long-term care plan is developed, and 4) adequate communication with the patient or their care-provider is being performed.

1. Apply current evidence, clinical guidelines, and best practices to the evaluation and management of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease.
2. Interpret clinical findings, diagnostic imaging, hemodynamic data, and other relevant diagnostic information to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
3. Develop comprehensive, patient-centered management strategies through multidisciplinary collaboration for complex congenital heart disease cases.
4. Identify opportunities to improve clinical decision-making, communication, and coordination among members of the congenital heart care team.
5. Incorporate lessons learned from case discussions into clinical practice to improve quality of care, patient safety, and outcomes for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease.

1. Improve communication with patients, families, communities, and other health professionals in a responsive and responsible manner.
2. Increase knowledge of current evidence, clinical guidelines, and evolving best practices for the diagnosis and management of pediatric congenital heart disease.
3. Improve competence in interpreting clinical findings, diagnostic imaging, hemodynamic data, and other diagnostic information to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.
4. Enhance competence in developing comprehensive, patient-centered management plans through effective multidisciplinary collaboration for children with congenital heart disease.
5. Strengthen professional practice by incorporating effective interdisciplinary communication and coordinated care strategies into the evaluation and management of complex congenital heart cases.
6. Improve performance in practice by integrating lessons learned from case-based discussions into clinical care, promoting consistent application of evidence-based management strategies, improved patient safety, and enhanced outcomes for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease.
