Overview
The goal of this conference is to introduce the concept of Food as Medicine and discuss the evidence of the role nutrition plays not only in the prevention but also the treatment of chronic disease.  We plan to demonstrate actual nutrition prescriptions for specific disease states and show that nutrition should be discussed with all patients and nutrition education needs to be part of every patient treatment plan regardless of specialty.  With additional collaboration with Tulsa VegFest/Plant Based Green Country, we are sharing the cost of bringing national speakers to Tulsa who will participate in our conference as well as physician panels and Q&A sessions at Tulsa VegFest the next day. 
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. Explain the significance our daily food choices have on our overall health and wellness.
  2. Describe the concept of Food as Medicine and the evidence behind plant based diets.
  3. Illustrate the use of nutrition prescriptions for not only prevention but also treatment of specific chronic disease states.
