Overview

This training session for regularly scheduled series (RSS) course directors, business managers and course contacts will cover the new processes, procedures and instructions required to stay compliant with the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence for Accredited Continuing Education.  Additional topics to be discussed including the new RSS CE application, new fees, CloudCME dashboard, and CPD best practices.  Time will be included for questions and answers.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. Identify the difference between eligible and ineligible companies.
  2. Explain that all financial relationships must be reported within the past 24 months (rather than 12 months).
  3. Review mitigation policies for all planners and presenters with relevant financial relationships: a. Any presenter with relevant relationships with ineligible companies must submit their PowerPoint presentation for review by the course director or designated planner for content validation and potential bias. Once reviewed the CPD office staff will review and if required will forward to the associate dean for final review, b. During the in-person or virtual session the course director must monitor or designate a monitor to verify that content was not bias.
  4. Review the ACCME definition of “owners and employees” of ineligible company(ies).
  5. Identify the new CloudCME process for collecting planner and presenter disclosures.
  6. Review how to access and utilize the RSS Dashboard.
  7. Describe the changes in the 2021-2022 RSS accredited CE fees including: a. Additional credit change - $15 per credit over 12 credits, b. Late announcement fee - $100 if received after 7 days prior to session, and c. Changes by program after CPD has approved announcement - $100 per session,
  8. Identify the OU/CPD best practices and requirements regarding session announcements and correspondence with the OU/CPD office.
  9. Explain how to write or edit professional practice gaps and learning objectives.
  10. Explain that ACCME requires accredited providers to report all attendance, not just the individuals claiming credit.
