Overview
The 50th Annual Orthopedic Surgery Visiting Professor (April 10-11, 2025) course will constitute 15 minutes talks by orthopedic faculty, residents, and medical students presenting research project performed at The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. The activities will also include didactic lectures which will be given by the Visiting Professor(s) on state of the art orthopedic practices in sub-specialty and patient management guidelines. This course will also include different case discussions with the Visiting Professor(s). The purpose of this course is to review and discuss a variety of current orthopedic problems and to provide an open forum for the exchange of ideas between the course faculty and visitors.  Quality improvement presentations and scientific papers presented by our residents with faculty support showcases the research efforts of our doctors throughout the academic year.  Our guest lecturer, who is nationally recognized in the field of orthopedic surgery, provides excellent presentations to our residents and faculty as well as the community physicians and other participants in an educational setting, benefitting all.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. Describe through didactic lecture updates the current evaluation and treatment of various orthopedic surgery topics.
  2. Identify through case presentations and discussions the evaluation and treatment of various orthopedic surgery related topics.
  3. Review updates on new approaches for the evaluation and management of orthopedic problems, particularly in the areas of shoulder surgery, adult reconstruction, pediatric surgery, hand surgery, foot-ankle, trauma, and quality improvement.
  4. Recognize complications related to various forms of treatment of orthopedic repair and reconstruction procedures.
