Psychiatry Grand Rounds provides continuing education for our faculty, trainees, and the public sector. We strive to enable discussion that is both about and involves the patients, so the physician can better understand the depth of a patient's mental illness. In this series, we explore the history of policies and procedures for handling mentally ill patients and what can be done to improve care and treatment they receive, as well as to better explain various forms of mental illness and how tretment should be approached and practiced by the clinician.

1. Reinforce accountability for providing high-quality care
2. Identify events resulting in adverse patient outcomes
3. Foster discussion of adverse events
4. Identify and disseminate information and insights about patient care that are drawn from experience
5. Create a forum in chich physicians acknowledge and address reasons for mistakes
6. Apply the most current evidence-based medicine and literature to their practice
7. Apply specific use of diagnostic procedures and medications
8. Apply current best practice in education to the teaching and assessment of trainees
9. Identify appropriate resources for current information on a variety of topics
10. Improve clinical appraisal & assimilate evidence skills
11. Read a journal article critically
12. Apply knowledge of study design & statistical methods
13. Keep up with the current evidence based literature
