Overview
The Mark Allen Everett, MD, Skin of Color Symposium will be presented virtually by the OU Department of Dermatology on Friday, April 23, 2021.
This symposium will feature multiple dermatology experts in skin of color, as well as other speakers and panelists, selected for their knowledge and commitment to diversity in medical education and healthcare.  
The purpose of the symposium is to 1) increase the knowledge of its attendees regarding skin of color conditions and 2) increase the awareness of diversity gaps within the field of medicine.


Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

  1. Prepare physicians, mid-level providers, residents, fellows, students, aestheticians, and hair care specialists to recognize the unique dermatologic features of skin of color
  2. Assemble a forum to exchange valuable information regarding medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic conditions of skin of color
  3. Examine cultural competence as it relates to dermatology and the field of medicine at large
  4. Recognize national experts in the field of dermatology
